days until court :-)

yeeps!!!  It is getting close- the time is really starting to pass by fast!! I really really hope we pass court the first time through!  If we do, we are looking to travel to pick up our sweet baby girl at the end of May- next month!!!!  yay!!  Our sweets will be 6 months old Friday- I cannot wait to get her home!

A quick update on our adoption :-)

Our court date was rescheduled from May 19th to May 8th - YAY!!!!  So, for our countdown- we have 50 days left until court!!  A month and a half- not too bad!  Our visa interview is still scheduled for June, though- what a bummer- I really was hoping to travel earlier than June.  It has been so hard to think about our sweet baby girl in Ethiopia- I feel so selfish- I want her home NOW!!!!  I want to squeeze her and love her and kiss her!!

We got a huge blessing today- a new friend of mine (Hi Amy!) traveled this past week to pick up her son (he is so gorgeous!) and she took photos and a video of our girl and sent them to us- it was amazing!  I cried so much today just staring at her pictures- it feels so crazy to love this baby SO much when I haven't even met her or even held her.  But, it is there- this huge huge love.  I really can't thank Amy enough- it is crazy what these pictures mean to me!  I am so hoping we can do this for other families while we are there picking up our baby!

The kids were thrilled to see the pictures and the video- I know it is hard for them, but they are so excited and want us to travel now to pick her up!

The countdown!!!

We received our court date today for our adoption... May 19th... 85 days away!!  If everything goes well, our adoption for our baby girl will be finalized and we will be traveling to Ethiopia the 2nd week of June to pick her up!!  I am SO excited to have this date- it seems so far away right now, but I know (I hope!) it will fly by.  I just can't believe my baby girl will be 8 months old by the time we meet her- that is so hard!  But yay for the court date...we are starting the countdown!!

We got the best news today- our referral!!!  Yippeee!!  I just can't explain how excited we are- a sweet, gorgeous little 3 1/2 month old girl.  Just unbelievable.  I have been staring at her photos ALL day and just can't stop!  I so wish I could show everyone in the world how beautiful she is, but we have to wait until we pass court for that!  In about 3-4 months we will hopefully be able to travel to bring her home!!!!!  YAY!!!!!!!!!! 

9 months!

 

I really cannot believe it has been 9 months that we have been waiting for our girl.  So far, the wait has been fairly easy, but within the past few weeks I have been getting super anxious.  Every time my cell phone rings during the day, my stomach flips over.  I am so nervous and excited- I am getting to the point where some days I get super sad at the end of the day.  I know this is all usual and I know that we will get our referral when we are meant to get it, but argh! some days I get frustrated!  I'm ready for our girl now :-)

8 months!!!!

Well, we have hit the 8 month mark waiting for our baby girl!  I really never ever thought we would have to wait this long, but it is good.  I'm glad we are home over the holidays and are going to be able to start the new year without me being a crazy freak worrying about travel and all :-)  I still feel like we have tons to do before we travel- finish the baby room, get our travel immunizations, get some paperwork ready (will/power of attorney), etc.  I'm planning on getting some of this done during our break- hopefully it will work out!  The kids are still so excited, I know they are going to be great with the baby!  I am so hoping for a referral in January, but who knows!!  I'll just wish not to see the 9 month mark!

Oh, and I haven't bought a new outfit this month (or for month 7) but I do plan on catching up next month!

Adoption update :-)

Well, we are moving up the list.  In the past two days, there have been 8 referrals, which is great- 5 boys and 3 girls (congrats to all the families!!).  We only moved up one spot, though, I think we are #2 in line for a baby girl (yay!).  Lately, I have been alternating between being fine with the wait, to just being completely whiny and ready (and during these times, I feel sorry for Brian because I am getting on my own nerves- I can only imagine how he feels!).  We are so close now, so I am hoping within the next month or so we will have our referral, but who knows!  I am just going to enjoy the holidays with the family and then go crazy again at the beginning of the year :-)

6 months!!

And we have moved up 3 spots since my last post- yay- congrats to all the families!  It is seriously so exciting to see all of these referrals- I still can't imagine the feeling!

A few referrals came today, which is exciting!  Ethiopia courts reopened Monday and hopefully things will start moving again!  I would seriously love to have our new daughter home by Christmas, but who knows!  So excited for the three families that received referrals today!!

5 months! yep, 5

Well, we have made it to month number 5 waiting for our girl- and I have to say that I had one day this month (this week) where I actually cried over the wait.  Now, I have been pretty good about the wait so far.  No, really I have.  But this week was stressful and I was super emotional, so crying seemed like the right option.  It felt good, and then I was over it.  I want to get our referral *soon*, but I have had it in my head all along that I would really like to get our referral in October sometime.  So, if October comes and goes and we haven't received our referral, I guess maybe I can expect more days like that.  But for now, I am going to continue to decorate the nursery (still not done!) and to buy cute dresses :-)
