A little Esme + mommy time.. nice. All three kids spent the night last night with their Nana, so Brian and I have had over 24 hours of no-kid time. We went to a movie last night and today I did some cleaning around here (yay) and then started making Aislin a skirt. It was so nice to have some quiet alone time but I really did miss the kids and could not wait for them to get home today!

I am finally learning how to do free-motion quilting! yay! This is my first quilt that I have finished free-motion quilting (just squiggles for now) and I am so excited... I still have to put the binding on- but once it is on I will take some photos of the entire quilt.

Esme has started hitting, but she only hits at Declan. Yes, he loves her like crazy but sometimes he can be so overwhelming with her... grabbing and holding and bothering until she hits him away. I guess I can kind of see why she does it, but of course we are trying to teach her how to be gentle again.

Spent a little time on the deck/porch tonight after we put the kids to bed. I love sitting out there even though the chairs are completely uncomfortable and about a day away from breaking to pieces. I can't wait until Brian gets the screens up- it will be nice not to have to worry about the buggies. I am going to miss just having it screen-less though... I get some good photos from up there of the kids in the yard, etc. I am still looking for some furniture for the porch- mainly a comfy couch-type thing and more chairs. I can't seem to find anything comfortable..anyone have ideas on where to buy good patio furniture?

Ninja reader :) Aislin found my sweatshirt somewhere and decided to wear it today around the house - pulling the hood up and tying the strings so you could barely see her face (she told me she was a ninja). I found her later reading with the ninja sweatshirt still on even though it is about 90 today. She needs to stop wearing cold weather clothes inside or Brian might turn the thermostat back up...definitely don't want that!

Found in the garage. eeps. I always make fun of my friend, Alissa, for being all squeally about snakes in her yard... but I have to say that when Brian pointed this out to me in the garage today, it kind of gave me the shivers. Where is the snake now and why is it shedding in MY garage? The kids thought it was pretty cool though!

Last year, we planted one cucumber plant and about five tomato plants and we definitely did not have enough cucumbers. This year, I decided to scale back on the tomatoes and increase the cucumbers. Hmmm... four cucumber plants equal WAY too much for our little garden. They are taking over our peppers and our melon and I think some strategic cutting is going to happen soon unless I can get these things trained :) I am still amazed at how much things can grow in one month. I think next year I will have to get Brian to build another little garden box.

ok ok so Esme has been home 9 months and I am finally getting around to sending announcements. Brian thinks there is no point since everyone already knows she is home, but I say so what! I finally got the design I want and ordered them and they are going out. Maybe with a cutie picture of her, too. If you are in my address book, expect one :) ha!

We had a little cousin to babysit today for a couple of hours... she is such a sweetie! Esme was a tad jealous when I was holding Harper, but other than that they had fun together. Of course I had to try to get some pictures, but not such a good idea when they were both tired!
The super awesome quilt top behind the girls... my grandmother found it at a thrift store (!! can you believe that!?!). I fell in love with it when I saw it at her house so she is sharing it with me. The whole top is hand stitched and so pretty and colorful. Would love to make one, but talk about time consuming... I would probably never finish!

Fun times at my friend's pool today.. nine kids between us... whew! Even chasing all the kids around, we still have time to talk and laugh and act like dorks :)
