Ok- as far as the disappointment from last week.... it was big. it was bad. But I have decided to just get over it. be done. I am not going to let something take up so much of *me*. That's it.
On to better stuff.... my baby girl has had a big month.
1.She had her first sleep-over. Ok, so it was with her Nana and Papa and two of her girl-cousins (both are 9), but she still spent the night out. Away from us. And loved it. Didn't cry. Didn't wake up in the middle of the night searching for us like I was positive she would do. She had a fun girls spa night- a nice jacuzzi tub soak, a mud mask for the face and some cucumber for the eyes, then a pedicure. She went to bed with her cousins in Nana's king bed- right in the middle. Had her cousins hold her hands until she fell asleep.. then the older girls stayed up talking. How sweet is that? Am I sad she didn't miss me enough to even call me to tell me goodnight? a little. That's ok. I snuggled her a little extra the next day just to make up for me missing her.. um, I mean, for her missing me :-)
2. She took her first shower by herself. Had her little Pony shampoo (thanks Aunt Chelle) and her baby wash and actually got clean! NOw all she wants to do is shower.
3. (and this is a big one.. at least for me) She had her first piece of gum today. Orbit citrusmint to be precise. Sugar free of course. I told her when she was 2 that she could chew gum at 5. Well, today during a particularly difficult time in Ikea (more on Ikea later!) , I burst out "Would you guys like to try some gum??" Both Aislin and Declan looked at me like I was nuts- I was offering *them* gum? I whipped out a piece and split it between them- making sure to tell them (about 100 times) not to swallow it- just spit it out and give it to me when they were done. Well, Declan gave me his about 2 seconds after he put it in his mouth. Aislin, however, looked like she was SO happy, chewing that gum... kept it for a long time until she finally told me she was done with it. So cute. Such a big deal for her. and for me. I don't know why I was so afraid of them chewing gum. Was I afraid they would choke? Swallow it? I cannot even think of how many times I swallowed gum. ew. Before bed tonight she asked if she could have another piece of gum in the morning. I think I will still reserve gum for special times right now.
Ikea today with my mother-in-law. Must I say how much I love this place? Love the storage stuff? ugh, I could go crazy. Got some really cute baskets to go in my project table that Brian made me
Had to pick up a few of these , too -- of course!
and look how cute these chair pads are? I am going to use them in Aislin's room ::
oh, and got some little storage jars for small kid toy things:
I went to get big-toy storage but didn't find anything today. maybe next time :-)
Ok- my husband, the couch, a movie and some popcorn/M&M's are waiting for me :-)
